National centre for the application of sustainable energy and green raw materials.
Description of the Process
ACRRES in Lelystad is the national centre for the application of sustainable energy and green raw materials. The objective of this initiative of Wageningen UR is to develop sustainable energy on the basis of sun, wind and biomass, in a joint effort with businesses, organisations, authorities and education. The centre will also maximise applications to utilise green raw materials and to close cycles. It is important that everybody has access to the complex world of energy. ACRRES offers ample scope to businesses to develop and test prototypes for sustainable energy generation and has the premises and facilities of Wageningen UR at its disposal for this purpose. ACRRES is also a particularly suitable location for demonstrations. Wageningen UR, as a partner in ACRRES, is highly experienced in organising demonstrations for large user groups. ACRRES has arranged an information and training room for visitors and educational institutes where learning and a persons own experience are central issues. Since it can offer all these activities within a single practice, ACRRES is an excellent environment for work placement by students. The central location of ACRRES on the borders of Lelystad and the farming environs guarantees good accessibility and is especially interesting for developing innovations on the interface between town and countryside. Sustainable carbon and nutrient cycles can be shown and tested at a central spot for both the urban environment and the countryside.
